Fire Protection

We are fully certified by FIRAS to carry out the application of Fire Protection Coatings, like intumescent paint.  We complete internal audit checks to produce a certificate of completion for our clients.  For Steel, we apply high performance anti corrosive primers and intumescent base coats for both internal and external use to steelwork structures both on and off site. 

We apply base coats to required thickness for 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes certified fire protection.  This is done by brush and spray application.  We can also apply a decorative top seal to the colour choice of our client.  We also apply flexible intumescent gap seal for structural movement joints.  For Timber, we apply both class1 and class 0 intumescent paint on to bare or previously painted wood where the surface spread of flame or fire propagation needs to be controlled.  This can be used both internally and externally. 

When exposed to a fire, the sealer coats expand to create a fire protective barrier to insulate the wood from heat and oxygen.  We have experts who will review a client’s drawings and advise on the correct product(s) to use.  All of our operatives are specifically trained and certified in the correct application of these products.

Hygiene Coatings

High performance, water-borne, low odour / non-tainting satin hygiene coating for the health, pharmaceutical, brewing, food and drink industries. Quick drying, extremely tough, highly chemically resistant finish can be repeatedly cleaned.  Our operatives are trained in the application of hygiene coating products and we are approved applicators for a variety of manufacturers.

Anti Graffiti Coatings

The anti graffiti coatings we use are a permanent non-sacrificial system, allowing for repeated easy removal of any graffiti or fly posting using water and is suitable for a wide variety of surfaces.  The anti graffiti coating system can be used on concrete, render, masonry, porous stone, timber and previously painted surfaces.  Applied by brush or airless spray and are quick drying.

Textured Coatings

Textured paint contains sand or beads which provide a thicker paint of rough texture on application. They have the added benefit of covering cracks and minor imperfections.  We use water borne textured coatings for internal and external surfaces.  We apply high and fine build coatings, in a range of colours, using hawk/trowel and finish with rollers, texturing tools or hopper gun spray.

Multi-colour Spray Painting

To spray multi-colour, we use an HVLP system (High Volume Low Pressure), which has the advantage that the spray pattern has a more pronounced feathered edge, that avoids the banding of each spray pass that an internal mix gun can produce, saving extra coating needed to cover the banding. We can also apply multi colour paint using traditional brush and roller techniques.

Ames Taping

The purpose of seam taping is to provide reinforcement over areas prone to splitting, such as seams or joints, and create a “bridge” that ties the surfaces together so water cannot seep through. Seam tape is used around roof vents, on flashings, over cracks and gaps, along the seams on metal, and in many other applications.  We apply jointing tape to both flat surfaces and internal and external corners which provides excellent crack resistance. 

We can achieve this both manually, using trowel tools, and mechanically using speed tape tools. We apply joint cement over a number of coats which is then sanded to leave a perfectly smooth finish ready for decoration.

Artex

We can apply Artex in a variety of textured patterns and various combed patterns to plasterboard, plastered or concrete surfaces.

Coving and Cornice

Story Painting Group's team of qualified painters and decorators can fit coving and cornice in various sizes and patterns which requires a high level of skill to ensure indefinable joins.

Wallpapering
